i got a brand new camera!

there is a silly country song out there that is called 'i got a brand new girlfriend', and all day long i've been singing i got a brand new camera (much to my childrens' annoyance). technically i don't actually have it yet. but it's ordered and should be shipped in the next day or 2. i'm SO excited. no more waiting 8 seconds between flash recoveries, no more temper tantrums because i missed the shot, and no more waiting for-ever for the darn thing to turn on! woo-hoo!

oh btw, it's a cannon powershot a620. not the best, but the best for what we/i could afford. http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=ModelDetailAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=12072 hopefully that works :)

we took a day trip up to blaine to see my parents (who were vacationing in the rv). it was blustery at the ocean, but we had fun playing at the beach (for about 10 minutes) and back at the campground. it's amazing how much fun you can have with a cheap kite, a 1.99 plastic ball and some playground equipment!

the boys enjoying the weather and a snack....

parker at chuck e cheese on tmib's birthday (yes you read that right, tmib wanted to go to chuck e cheese for his birthday). i bet they don't get a lot of 31st celebrations there!

it's dead

my camera, that is :(

it's been dying a long painful death and it finally crapped out on me the other day. but in a way it's ok because that means i get a new one. of course since $ is tight, it won't be the fabulous digital slr i've been drooling over. but hopefully something nicer than what i have taht will get me through the next couple of years.

i'm trying to post some pics of the boys, but just haven't gotten to it. nope, not out of laziness, but out of 'i'm outside enjoying the nice weather and my kids'. so there :P

to...much...testosterone!

so i realize that being the only female in this family, massive amounts of testosterone are something i need to get used to. that being said, 'tmib' (the man in black if you don't know/aka my husband) was practically oozing it yesterday morning when he came home from work.

you see, he had his first high speed chase. basically they got a call about a car prowl, a witness got a license plate of the prowlers, that car came back as stolen and about 10 minutes later tmib found himself right behind said stolen car. you see this was special because not only would he be the 'lead' officer on the call, but his squad had, literally just the other day, been trained in how to use spike strips and PIT manuevers (when they use their car to 'ram and turn' a vehicle that's fleeing...you see it a lot in those california high speed chases).

so he was driving behind them, back-up showed up, and he was fully expecting them to bolt at some point. He hadn't turned lights and sirens on yet....they wanted to set up spike strips (ie, use thier new toys) so once everything was in place, he lit'em up and sure enough they took off...right over the spike strips. tmib describes what follow as a scene right out of cops...the stolen car was driving over curbs, through parking lots, and when the tires were gone, sparks shooting out from rims on pavement. they ending up ditching and bolting and k-9 got both guys with-in about 20 minutes.

so while he was telling me the story, you could literally hear the excitement in his voice, see the adrenaline running through him, and feel large quantities of testosterone filling the room. all i could think to myself was i LOVE that he loves his job. danger in all. a happy hubby/daddy makes for a great hubby/daddy.

planning

are you a planner? i'm definitely a planner. i'm religious about planning out my meals/snacks for the week. i only make a trip to the grocery store once a week, maybe once every 6 days. because if you've ever taken 2 kids to the grocery store, you want to do it as less as possible. and i'm ususally carting 2 kids along with me.

so when i run out of a must have item in between trips, i wanna scream. i mean it, one of those longs drawn out aaaarrrrgggghhhhh's. because there is only one thing worse than making a long grocery trip with 2 kids....it's making a "quick" grocery trip with 2 kids.

the moral of the story? i'm making a "quick" trip to the grocery store to pick-up peanut butter and dog food. and i'm not happy about it.

warning....

i am super busy the next few days (fri-tulip trip, sat-all day crop, sun-easter festivites). so don't think i've reverted to bad habits if you don't see me 'round!

day 2

i'm here! im here! i made it :)

i love it when people still think that sahm's do nothing but lay around all day watching soaps and eating bon-bon's (do they even make bon-bon's anymore??) i have all these things running through my head that i need to accomplish over the next 5 days, and i can't straighten them out. really nothing earth-shattering; laundry, the grocery store, pre-school, dyeing eggs, getting to a sale, hitting the gym, etc. if you put it down like that, you think, i can easily get all that accomplished in 1 day, not 5! but here's the twist:

add kids to the mix. then meals, nap times, bedtimes, playtimes, etc. thta's what can take about 5-6 errands, and turn them into a 5 day excursion.

living my own blog...

i think i figured out why i am such a slacker-blogger. i'm to busy reading everyone else's stuff! after getting up each morning, showering, getting the kids dressed and fed, i take some computer time for myself. usually the kids are eating or watching some morning tv. i find that i usually have about 10-20 minutes to myself. so i check my email, my yahoo groups, babycenter, and then the blogs i read. then i finally get around to blogging myself, something (or more likely someone!) distracts me. then i rarely have a chance to come back and finish what i started.

so here's the new approach..blog first, read later. ssimple enough, right? let's see if i can actually implement it, lol!
